PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

2007–2008

Toured East Coast United States performing solo works of J.S. Bach and Benjamin Britten. Performed Verdi’s Requiem at Carnegie Hall (New York, NY) and Britten’s War Requiem at Patriot’s Theater at the War Memorial (Trenton, NJ). Performed Latin Jazz with Bronx Arts Ensemble at Hostos Community College (Bronx, NY). Presenting three solo programs for the new series “Music as Architecture” at the Ruth and Harold D. Uris Center for Education at The Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York, NY). Solo cellist with the Manhattan Chamber Orchestra in Evenings of Piano Concerti Series at the Yamaha Salon (New York, NY).

2006–2007

Presentation of concert/lecture on the Sonatas for cello and keyboard by J.S. Bach co-edited with Bernard Greenhouse for G. Schirmer, Inc. at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Solo recitals in New York, Connecticut, and New Hampshire. Soloist with the Metro Chamber Orchestra at Symphony Space (New York, NY). Soloist with the Chelsea Symphony at Bargemusic (Brooklyn, NY). Solo cellist in Tobias Picker’s Therese Raquin with the Dicapo Opera Orchestra (New York, NY).

2005

Concerto appearances with the Salzburgerkammerphilharmonie (Salzburg, Austria), and The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Premiered Soliloquy, by Jennifer Higdon. Solo appearance at University of North Carolina-Greensboro introducing new edition of Sonatas for Violoncello and Keyboard BWV 1027-1029 by J.S. Bach (co-editor and owner with Bernard Greenhouse, published by G. Schirmer Inc.). Return engagement at the Supreme Court of the United States broadcast on Performance Today for National Public Radio (Washington, DC). Performed in Merce Cunningham’s Ocean at Lincoln Center Festival (New York, NY).

2004–2008

Recording sessions with Tony Bennett and Doc Severinsen (New York, NY). The Late Show with David Letterman. Jazz at Lincoln Center with trumpeter Clark Terry. Regular substitute at Disney’s The Lion King on Broadway. Principal cellist with jazz singer Jane Monheit at Carnegie Hall. Principal and section cellist for numerous freelance orchestras and opera orchestras in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Oklahoma. Soloist and continuo player for oratorio in many houses of worship in and around New York City.

2004

Tour of Austria, France, Spain, and the Czech Republic with the Salzburgerkammerphilharmonie. Solo recital at Carnegie Recital Hall.

2003

Solo recital at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. World premiere of a commissioned work by Guggenheim Award-winning composer Louise Beach.

2002

Performed at the Supreme Court of the United States celebrating the publication of Malvina Shanklin Harlan’s Memories of a Long Life. Recital debut at Merkin Concert Hall (New York, NY). Premiered works by American women composers, including Augusta Read Thomas and Jennifer Higdon. Concerto performances with St. Petersburg Philharmonic (St. Petersburg, Russia) and Moscow Symphony Orchestra (Moscow, Russia).

2001

Solo recital at Steinway Hall (New York, NY). Performed J.S. Bach’s Unaccompanied Suites in Rockport, MA, and Poughkeepsie, NY.

1999

Concerto performances and CD recording of Haydn’s Cello Concerti with Moscow Chamber Orchestra, Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory (Moscow, Russia). Concerto performances in Bad Sobernheim, Germany, and Iassy, Botoşani, and Constanza, Romania.

1998

Concerto debut with Moscow Chamber Orchestra The Seasons, Gniessin Institute (Moscow, Russia). Concerto debut with St. Petersburg Philharmonic, Yusupov Palace (St. Petersburg, Russia). Solo recital at Scriabin Museum (Moscow, Russia).

Full Fathom commemorated the 200th anniversary of A. Pushkin’s birth: poetry, costumes, and premieres of works by Mikhail Ermolaev Kollontay and Vladimir Uspensky.

2007–Present

Head of Cello Department and Director of Grammar School Orchestra, Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School (New York, NY).

1997–2007

Private studio instruction (Greenwich, CT) preparing lower, middle, and high school students for performances in twice-yearly recitals, auditions for youth symphony, regional and all-state jury examinations, college auditions, and competitions. Students have attended institutions such as Harvard University, Yale University, Williams College, Bard College, The Juilliard School, Interlachen Arts Academy, and North Carolina School of the Arts.

2003–2007

Director of Connecticut Alliance for Music’s outreach program in Bridgeport Public Schools. Secured sponsorship and developed a unique program to introduce string playing, technique, and performance to middle and high school children (Bridgeport, CT).

2000–2002

Adult Chamber Music Program at Diller-Quaile School of Music (New York, NY), performing with and coaching adult ensembles (trios, quartets, quintets with piano).

1999, 2001

Preliminary round judge for the Heida Hermanns Young Artist Competition (Westport, CT).
